Blogging is an important tool in PR; it gives you an added benefit to become a better writer, share your thoughts and skills and form a portfolio. You can learn so much about yourself as a writer, an individual and in your professional career.
Blogs have come a long way since they first appeared in the late 1990’s; they are becoming a big part of the internet used by millions every day.
The only way you’ll become successful at blogging and improve as a writer is if you make the time for it. It does take a lot of practice; therefore you should put in the hours to make it successful.
Below are my top tips to keep in mind when producing your first blog.
Plan your posts – Before you start blogging, take the time to plan before you write. Focus on creating a document to keep track of the specific details, such as, font style and size, colours and even a content calendar. By creating these guidelines, you will create blog posts that are more consistent with your brand and people will remember.
Images are an essential – Whilst words are vitally important, images give your content a real boost. Readers of blogs enjoy images, infographics and even videos. Always make sure you add at least two pictures with every post you create, this makes them stand out and more appealing, especially when you share via social media.
Build relationships – The relationships you build through blogging and social media is essential for your career growth. You will grow your audience and generate a community of readers who will support what you write. Also, invest your time in reading what others have to say, if they found something valuable, educational or inspiring, show your appreciation back.
Your audience is everything – It can be tricky to keep your readers interested. Think of ideas for the type of people you want to attract. Whatever your vision is, make it stand out to the people who visit your site!
I love sharing my experiences and feelings on here. It isn’t just a hobby; it has become a practical tool for my career today!
