I have always been a creative person. When I was younger, you would find me designing, dreaming, dancing and telling stories.
Many people may not know I enjoy making things and expressing myself – I guess I have been good at masking my hidden talent!
Over the past two years, real life took over. My life became ‘all business’ for me. It was all about getting fantastic grades, climbing to the top and landing an apprenticeship after college. While the practical side of me is the one that shines the brightest, I wish I could put in more of the creative and self-start side of myself.
It is a weird thing, expressing your creativity. As a professional, I often dream of the days where I was freely creative. I miss playing on parks, doodling the hours away and making up stories to my family.
Sometimes, I feel like this creative calling I have always had has strongly influenced my life, I have just had to channel my creativity in a more practical way.
I went into PR because I am a creative person. It is one of the most practical career paths for someone who wants to use their imagination to make a difference in the world. I have gained the skills that have transformed me into a strong and independent profession.
Public Relations is just one career that allows people like myself to use their creative talents to help other businesses in different industries. However, a creative passion can be put to good use in many other careers.
You may find it hard deciding on what path to take and how to channel your energy. You don’t have to decide today, but it may be nice to find some answers. One of the things you can do now is to focus on what feeds your mind and your creative soul in this very moment. Think of
yourself as an ambitious creative entrepreneur!
If you follow your passion, you will find a career path that you love and will suit you. There is no right or wrong answer to finding a creative career – for me that was PR. It is all about how you direct your energy and the type of people you surround yourself with. If you really want to make something happen for yourself, you just need to do it. Figure out the steps you need to take and start working towards that goal.
Just don’t forget about what you love and the things in life that fill your heart with joy!
